1.Program Objective

Diploma in Hotel Management by Skill to Earn is a practical and industry training programme which meets the requirement of 21st century hotel industry at the entry level. The Hospitality industry is fast growing industry and the employment opportunity are huge and hence students enrolling for this programme have immense employment opportunities. This Program combines theoretical concepts of various hotel related adequate practical knowledge and on the job training for progressive career in hospitality industry. This programme provides learners with required knowledge of hospitality sector and equips them with various skill to work independently in hotel industry. Upon successful completion of this Diploma, students will be able to:

  • have reasonable understanding of the hotel industry.
  • enter hotel industry with working knowledge about core department of a hotel i.e. food production and patisserie, food and beverage service, housekeeping and front office.
  • acquire technical and social skill required for the hospitality industry
  • develop positive attitude and self confidence.
  • acquire sales and marketing skills needed to progress in the hospitality industry.

  • to develop positive and responsible attitude to Wards work.

2.Course Composition

Skills to Earn’s Diploma in hotel Management program is divided into three main components: the Core courses, Value added course and On-The-Job Training.

  1. Compulsory Course: are designed to provide students with background knowledge on English for hospitality. Introduction to Hospitality, Sales and salesmanship
  2. Core Course: are focused on the functional areas of hospitality operation. It includes Food production & patisserie Food & Beverage Service. Housekeeping Service, Front Office, and French for Hospitality
  3. Value added Course: Every Students is required to attend compulsory course on “Personality Development” training program which is additionally developed to inculcate the skills to enhance the personality of an individual
  4. On-The Job Training: Students are required to do a compulsory On-The job training as a trainee in a 4/5 Star hotel or resort. This is done to bridge the gap between the theoretical input and the real working environment.

 

The total duration is 12 months which is classified into 6 months at the training center and 6 months for On-The-job Training.

The candidates applying for Admission in Diploma in Hotel Management must have fulfilled followings: 1. Successfully passed SEE with minimum D+ grade (1.6+ GPA) (SLC) or other equivalent examinations 2. Must have studied and passed English of at least 100 marks in SEE (SLC) with minimum D+ grade (1.6+ GPA) 3. Age above 16 years

Candidates seeking admission to “Diploma in Hotel Management” should apply in the prescribe form within the stipulated time with applicable fee. The application form should be enclosed along with following documents: 1. Mark Sheet and Certificate of SEE/NEB or other equivalent Examinations or mark Sheet 2. Two recent passport size photographs 3. Copy of Citizenship

Skills to Earns has a strict policy and requires minimum 75% attendance in each course to qualify for assessment and certification.

Evaluation of the students is conducted internally as well as externally. 1. Internal Evaluation: shall be conducted by the respective subject instructors and institution and reports submitted to ski to Earn on regular basis. -The internal evaluation system and procedure will be designed and conducted by the course instructor and institution as per the requirement of the subject. It is a continuous monitoring of the Students Progress. The report must be submitted to Skills to Earns on a regular basis. 2. External Evaluation: Shall be conducted by SKILL to Earn through external assessment to be conducted by Verifiers as appointed by Skill to Earn 3. Practical Examination: Shall be conducted by the center/site as per prescribed format by S2E. Practical Examination will be conducted under the supervision of the respective faculty member 4. On-The-Job training: The evaluation of the project Report under the OJT will be evaluation by Verifiers as appointed by S2E

• Each student must bring a notebook, paper, pen/pencil and a set of the student kits every day. • On lab days, the students must be in PROPER in order to participate in the lab assignment.

9. Classroom Expectation:
  • Students are expected to be in their seats and stop talking when the class begins.
  • Students must respectful to everyone in class with regard to speech, attitude, property and space.
  • Students are expected to be involved in class discussion, assignment and project.
  • Students are to be well-rested and alert during class time and remain focused sleeping will not be tolerated.
  • Students are responsible for their action and their own work, and how it affect other when groups.
  • All cell phones and electronics must be turned off while in all classes and labs any phone, etc. seen in class will be confiscated and taken to the school front office for parent pick-up.
  • Backpacks, purses and electronic devices, along with food or beverage, are not allowed in class and will be confiscated and turned into the front office or detained.
  • Teamwork is crucial and students must strive to work well with others.
10. Marking Schemes

Marking scheme for the purpose of internal and external evaluation has been designed as follows:

11. Passing Grade and Grading System

Students must secure minimum marks to pass the final examination

  1. Students must secure minimum 40% marks in theory and 40% marks in practicals to pass each subject
  2. Must secure minimum pass marks in each subject individually Students must secure pass marks in both theory and practice

Grading will be determined by adding combined marks of theory and practical examinations. The overall grade shall be determined by the total marks obtained in all the subjects. The total percentage will determine the final grade of the students as follows:

                                           More than 75% marks                                     Grade A: pass with Distinction

                                           More than 60% to less than 75% marks       Grade B: pass with merit

                                           More than 40% to less than 60% marks       Grade C: Pass

                                           Below 40% marks                                              Grade D: Fail

12. Failing in a Examination

In case of failure in one or more courses in final examination students can appear in a re-examination arranged by S2E.

    1. Failure to secure minimum pass marks in either theory or practical will be considered as fail in the subject failure in a subject requires re-examination in the subject
    2. The re-examination shall be permitted to the student up to maximum of 2 attempts or within maximum duration of 3 years (from the date of enrolment). In such re-examination student must pay the examination fee as prescribed by S2E.
13. Certification

Upon Successful completion of the program, the student shall be certified with Customized Award “Diploma in Hotel Management” by skill to Earn Pvt. And TQUK.
